The de Rosset House is one of Wilmington’s earliest residences built in 1841 by Dr. Armand John de Rosset III.The de Rossets were fond of entertaining and the architectural plans for the house were designed to accommodate the many social events they hosted.Today, 178 years after Armand de Rosset envisioned his elegant house, the de Rosset House still stands having received extensive remodeling and modernization, one that de Rosset himself might have imagined. After all, the purpose today is the same as then – to provide an elegant, exclusive mansion in which to entertain and be entertained. Perhaps today’s guests can summon up the ghost of yesterday’s society, enjoy the terraced gardens, the elegant surrondings, exquisite foods, wines and spirits, as we relive Armand de Rosset’s dream.
