Description
One of Rockland’s first “Guest Houses,” Ripples was originally opened in the early 1950s as a small business by the wife of the Rockland Train Station Master, Mr. & Mrs. Carsley. With passengers coming and going directly across the street, they enjoyed a lively business serving visitors to Rockland. They gave it the name of the surrounding tress, calling it “The Maples.” Over the years the business changed ownership several times and the last owners renamed it “Lathrop House.”
In 2007, with a new owner and a new vision, it was carefully and creatively restored. The good bones were updated and yesterday’s fashion changed to meet the needs and comfort of today’s visitors and guests. Ripples will appeal to all who embrace innovation and an environment that is open and conducive to creativity, expression and community. Healthy and hearty comfort food and the softest beds surrounded by serene sea breezes all combine to make Ripples the perfect getaway. Ripples Inn is a special space to grow and explore. Take home more than just a tee-shirt or postcard. Experience all that Midcoast Maine has to offer: new adventures for visitors and local folks alike.
