Description
Among the historic inns of Virginia, The Clifton’s heritage is truly unique. Our boutique hotel on the outskirts of Charlottesville was originally constructed in 1799 as a classic colonial-style home for Thomas Jefferson’s daughter and husband, Martha and Thomas Mann Randolph.
In the second half of the 19th century, the estate was officially given the name “Clifton” by the Wyatt family. The interiors were later reimagined in the Spring of 2018 by the acclaimed Blackberry Design Group with both an affection for the past and an eye towards the future. The result is a chic, contemporary take on the classic country estate – a dramatic yet romantic destination for family vacations, group getaways, romantic retreats, weddings and meetings steeped in the heritage and beauty of Charlottesville.
