THE ESSENCE OF TRANQUILITY
When you arrive at The Kelsey House, you will truly feel your stress drift away. As you walk up on to our large wrap around, covered porch perched on a rocky bluff overlooking the bay, with its breathtaking waterfront panoramas, you will feel like you are actually “on vacation.” Enjoy the spectacular coastal water vistas as you relax in a comfy rocker and watch the world go by.
The Kelsey House Bed & Breakfast is a Victorian summer home built in the 1880’s by local entrepreneur Edwin R. Kelsey, for his family’s summer guests from the city.
The Kelsey House is located in the shore village of Short Beach in Branford, Connecticut, over looking Short Beach Bay and Kelsey Island. This area has long been home to the Kelsey family, with their on going boat building business next door to the B&B which has been in business since the 1930’s.
In earlier history, Kelsey Island across the small bay originally saw many schooners docking there with their loads of fish from the 1860’s to the 1910’s. Some of the original buildings from this family business are still in existence today and in use on the island as summer cottages.
