Description
During the 18th and 19th centuries the Stagecoach Inn was the home where travelers stayed and rested before traveling on to their next stop. Today as a newly renovated home it continues its “olde” tradition of accommodating guests.
A porch runs the length of the home. On the right an opening led to a slave tunnel. The slaves were hidden here until they could safely go north to Boston. The tunnel is now filled with rock.
Poquetanuck Cove is the reason Scottsmen settled this Village. It once was a deep water cove where ships went out to sea. The cove is one block from the Inn. As a wild life sanctuary the cove is now only used by canoists and shore fishermen trying their luck to land the big one.
